About the artist.
Born and raised in Southeast London, Shantell Martin is best known for her distinctive black-and-white drawings, creating works that act as apt metaphors for her own sense of personal and multi-cultural “in-betweenness”. Shantell has exhibited in the MoMA, The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, and the Brooklyn Museum, and she’s also collaborated with other incredible artists, including Kendrick Lamar and designer Kelly Wearstler, and amazing brands like Max Mara, Tiffany & Co, and The North Face. So, it’s safe to say we’re honoured to be working with her.
Shantell’s practice is a language of lines: having used drawing as a way of expressing her emotions and finding relief from the restrictive societal conventions that surround us, the artist now encourages others to find their own line—an identity that is uniquely their own. Her artwork is a celebration of creativity, something that each and every person possesses but not everyone expresses, and its unique ability to empower explorations of personal identity.
What does the Grind x Shantell Martin collection include?
The limited-edition collection consists of:
